And (hopefully) the Oscar goes to…
As it’s been a bit of a blog theme for me lately, I thought it only appropriate to share my predictions for the winners at tomorrow night’s Academy Awards presentation (being televised live by the ABC Television Network).
With any luck my predictions will be more hit than miss, not for strictly reasons of pride but also for financial gain. As is the case with many people when it comes to the Oscars, Sir Randy is participating in an Oscar pool. We’re not talking thousands of dollars here, but given the stiff competition of my fellow participants, a win would be ever so sweet.
So here are my predictions for the winners at the 78th Academy Awards:
Picture: Brokeback Mountain
Director: Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain)
Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote)
Actress: Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line)
Supporting Actor: George Clooney (Syriana)
Supporting Actress: Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener)
Animated Feature Film: Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Art Direction: Memoirs of a Geisha
Cinematography: Memoirs of a Geisha
Costume Design: Memoirs of a Geisha
Documentary Feature: March of the Penguins
Documentary Short Subject: God Sleeps in Rwanda
Film Editing: The Constant Gardener
Foreign Language Film: Paradise Now
Makeup: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Original Score: John Williams (Memoirs of a Geisha)
Original Song: “Travelin’ Thru†(Transamerica), Music & Lyrics by Dolly Parton
Animated Short: The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation
Live Action Short: Our Time Is Up
Sound Editing: King Kong
Sound Mixing: King Kong

Adapted Screenplay: Brokeback Mountain
Original Screenplay: Crash
Let’s hope that Sir Randy’s predictions are an embarrassment of riches, and not simply an embarrassment.
See you on the other side of the red carpet….
Cheers!
S.R.
