March of Studs

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

I don’t know about you, but I for one am glad that this is the final day of February. Even though it’s the shortest month of the year I’m beginning to think that it must be the one with the longest days; how else to explain the length of time it took to get to this day on the calendar?

Granted for me, February was the first full month of this year without there being any vacation time to ease the pain of winter. (Contrary to what you may be thinking, Sir Randy does not travel to some exotic location in the winter to work on his lap top AND tan.) That could have had something to do with the seemingly slow motion movement of most days, regardless of how busy they were.

I guess the sort of Christmas morning anticipation of the upcoming Academy Awards—less than a week away!!—makes the time it takes to get to the magical day (March 5) seem all the longer. Christ, you’d think that I was up for something…other than having sex with three of the Supporting Actor nominees.

But the Oscar eye candy won’t be the only studs in Sir Randy’s life come March. Two sites have been brought to my attention (Men at Play, and FreshSX) and from the little I’ve allowed myself to sample, these ones could be winners. The Men at Play site seems particularly intriguing to Sir Randy since most of the action takes place in an office environment. Well dressed (in business attire) and well hung (often uncut) hunks work on themselves and each other. Forget 9 to 5 when there’s 6 to 9!

So be gone with the February Blues. And get ready for reviews to sites that will (hopefully) heat you up for many months to come.

Vanity Affair

Friday, February 24th, 2006

Regrettably my schedule doesn’t allow me a lot of time to curl up with a good book and read for hours of uninterrupted bliss. Life’s too busy for that. I’ve even attempted to read in bed before turning off the lights—or turning on my lover—but at the end of an exhausting and demanding day, reading becomes more of a chore than anything else. And when I do read in bed, rarely am I able to absorb more than a few pages before nodding off. Sad but true.

But there is one publication that I simply devour once it’s in my hot little hands, and that’s the fabulous magazine, Vanity Fair. Packed with well-penned articles that cover practically everything (politics, crime, culture, etc…), and beautiful pics from some of the most gifted photographers in the world (the glorious Annie Leibovitz, for example), it brightens the beginning of any month.

The annual March 2006 special edition is particularly exquisite for those looking for a juicy injection of celebrity. Entitled “Tom Ford’s Hollywood”, it includes a stunning 46 page photo portfolio of the current crop of Hollywood’s hottest stars with an introduction by delicious designer and cover boy Tom Ford (with his perpetual 5 o’clock shadow, sexy sideburns and hot, hairy chest).

And there’s no shortage of attractive actors on tasteful display in this photo spread: Brokeback Mountain’s Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger, Eric Bana (Munich, Troy), Viggo Mortensen (A History of Violence, Lord of the Rings trilogy), Taye Diggs (Rent, How Stella Got Her Groove Back), Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Match Point, Bend It Like Beckham), Terence Howard (Hustle & Flow, Crash), Joaquin Phoenix (Walk the Line, Gladiator) and George Clooney (Syriana, Good Night, and Good Luck) to name more than just a few. For gay men and straight women, it’s a delectable collection of eye candy.

Check out the photos first. Then read the articles.

Oscar Fever

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

Let the countdown begin. Two weeks from tonight will no doubt be a departure of sorts for a lot of gay men. Instead of checking out who’s on-line, they’ll be checking out who’s on TV…at the 78th Academy Awards on ABC.

Aside from judging which female celebrity is the best and worst dressed, or who has the best and worst hairstyle, the Oscars is a great night for salivating over hot actors in tuxedos. As if that isn’t enough to keep my fellow fags glued to their set for a few hours, this year offers an added incentive. As demonstrated by two of the films up for Best Picture, the instant classic Brokeback Mountain (8 nominations) and the fascinating Capote (5 nominations), it was a very good year for gay characters in cinema.

Given the number of awards he’s already (deservedly) received for his portrayal of Truman Capote, I’d be shocked if the gifted Philip Seymour Hoffman doesn’t take home the Best Actor Oscar. What would really be nice though is if there was a tie, and the award was shared by both Hoffman and Heath Ledger. Much like the entire film, Ledger’s performance in Brokeback Mountain is one that haunts long after leaving the theater, and it’s something that should be recognized by the Academy.

It’s not like there’s never been a tie before. Back in 1932, Wallace Berry won an Oscar for Best Actor for The Champ, along with Fredric March for Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. More “recently” in 1969, Barbra Streisand won a Best Actress award for Funny Girl, as did Katharine Hepburn for her work in The Lion In Winter. Sir Randy has his fingers crossed for both Philip and Heath.

A three-way I’d like to see (but not necessarily as in a tie for the Oscar win) involves studly Supporting Actor nominees Jake Gyllenhaal (Jack Twist from Brokeback Mountain), George Clooney (Syriana) and Matt Dillon (Crash). I’d be more than happy to even out that odd number, if you know what I mean. Yum.

So will Brokeback Mountain sweep this year’s Oscars? Will triple nominee Clooney bring home some hardware? What male celeb would you like most to help out of his tuxedo at the end of the evening? And who will be at the top of Sir Randy’s most wanted list that night?

Stay tuned…

A Belated Happy New Year’s

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

My god, how time flies. It seems like only yesterday when I did a 2005 end of the year blog entry. Next thing you know, it’s the day after Valentine’s Day. It’s like I slipped into a coma or something. And if I’m not careful, Spring will have sprung by the time I finish this entry. Not that I’m counting the days until the first day of Spring or anything…

So in between my last entry and this one, I managed to squeeze in a lot of parties but more importantly a lovely (not to mention long-overdue) two city European vacation. City # 1 was London, where I stayed in a spacious flat in the posh Knightsbridge neighbourhood. Hello, Harrods! Hello, Harvey Nichols! Hello, gorgeous English stud muffins! Honestly, I wasn’t sure if it would be a case of eye candy feast or famine there, but whatever expectation I was entertaining was certainly met and surpassed.

I had no idea how multicultural London is, and had a hard time—-so to speak–trying to determine if the all delicious looking gents actually lived in London or like myself were visiting from another country. In any event, who cares? Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but when Sir Randy gets his way it also finds its way into his bed. Or the bathroom stall of the local pub…only in a pinch, of course.

City # 2 was Paris and once again instead of allowing myself to be waited on hand and foot at some luxurious hotel, my preference was to be serviced in a cute little flat deep in the heart of Le Marais.

I find that the men of Paris have a very distinct look to them. The height may vary but they are very dependable when it comes to having thick dark hair, penetrating blue eyes and an unshaven appearance that is sexy, sexy, sexy whether the man be in jeans or a tux. Or neither. Ooh la la.

So many men, so little time. Which brings me back to the present. I’m looking forward to continuing my exploration this year of the vast universe of gay adult websites out there, and then serving the crème de la crème of them to you on a silver platter. Last year’s Top Ten (Randy Blue, Latin Boyz, His First Huge Cock to name a few) may have to make room for some of the new contenders. But not to worry, at Sir Randy there’s always room at the Inn.
