I awakened this morning with the actor Colin Farrell unexpectedly on my mind; a hard but not necessarily difficult start to the day. It’s been a while now since news of his alleged sex video with a former girlfriend made the rounds, and like the Tommy & Pamela, or Paris clips that preceded his, my on-line priorities didn’t change as a result. (Mind you, I might have been more inclined to pursue something had one of the dozens of e-mails I received about it been from a trusted source.)
But while his private affairs are of little concern to me, his privates are seemingly another matter. And yes, there is a difference.
During a test audience screening of the 2004 film, “A Home at the End of the World†(a rather dull adaptation of Michael Cunningham’s beautiful novel, but with a sweetly sexy and vulnerable performance from Farrell), a post-shower full frontal nude shot of the Irish stud was met with blush-inducing gasps from female members and squirm-in-their-seats, look-away-from-the-screen discomfort from the (clearly straight) male participants.
The reaction to the scene was so strong that when the film was released the “Full Farrell†became half of that with only the upper half of his naked body on display. Even the DVD version excludes the original cock footage of the scene (with “footage†apparently being the operative word here).
With the haunting omission of the controversial meat shot, two questions plague me: Why all the fuss over a part of the human anatomy? And more importantly, why the hell couldn’t I have been part of that lucky test audience?
Sure, I may not have any interest in watching the actor get it on for real (particularly if it’s with a woman) but to be denied a legit glimpse of the final piece to my fantasy puzzle reeks of discrimination given the amount of female flesh effortlessly on display in film with rarely a brow raised. It just isn’t fair; or in this case, Farrell.

Those looking for something a bit more revealing can pay Male Celebrities a visit, a site claiming to be the “exclusive distributor of Colin’s Sex Tapeâ€after the lawsuit has been settled.
That day can’t come soon enough.
